CANDIDATE VETTING PROCEDURE
Cassidy Education places teachers and support staff within the UK education sector. Due to the nature of work involving access to children, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, subject to the filtering rules for criminal record check certificates (please ask for these guidelines if needed). You are required to disclose any spent or unspent convictions, subject to the filtering rules. Any person who refuses the vetting procedure cannot be appointed or engaged by Cassidy Education Ltd in any capacity, including in a voluntary role. Please note it is an offence to apply for work with children, or young people under the age of 18, if you have been convicted of certain offences, or are considered unsuitable to work with children by the Department of Education, the Department of Health, or the Secretary of State. I understand that if I am not registered for the DBS Update Service, Cassidy Education Ltd will process another DBS check for me and I will sign up to the DBS Update Service. If I subsequently sign up to the Update Service, it is my responsibility to inform Cassidy Education Ltd, or an additional DBS may be processed and charged for. I authorise Cassidy Education Ltd to deduct the DBS payment of £44.00 (for paper form) or £51.20 (for online form) from my first pay for this check to be processed. FILTERING RULES FOR CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK CERTIFICATES
For those 18 or over at the time of the offence:

An adult conviction will be removed from a DBS criminal record certificate if:
- 11 years have elapsed since the date of conviction; and it is the person's only offence, and it did not result in a custodial sentence.
Even then, it will only be removed if it does not appear on the list of offences relevant to safeguarding. If a person has more than one offence, then details of all their convictions will always be included.

An adult caution will be removed after 6 years have elapsed since the date of the caution – and if it does not appear on the list of offences relevant to safeguarding. For those under 18 at the time of the offence:
- The same rules apply as for adult convictions, except that the elapsed time period is 5.5 years
- The same rules apply as for adult cautions, except that the elapsed time period is 2 years.
Filtering Rules

As of 29 May 2013 you are no longer required to disclose information about any ‘filtered’ offences. You are not required to disclose on any part of this form any convictions or cautions that have been ‘filtered’. Subject to the filtering rules failure to declare a conviction that you must disclose may require Cassidy Education to exclude you from our register or terminate an assignment if the offence is not declared but later comes to light.
