Our client is looking for an inspirational lecturer to deliver exceptional teaching and course leadership to learners with autism and complex needs aged between 16 and 25.
Fewer than one in four young people with autism access any form of education beyond school, not because they lack the ability or desire to learn, but because they are held back by a system that lacks the knowledge and expertise to support them.
Our client believes everyone is entitled to lead a happy and rewarding life, and this includes young people with autism. We are a unique further education college for young adults with autism and complex needs and, as our name suggests, we are ambitious for our learners. Our dedicated team of professionals are passionate about supporting young learners to live ordinary lives in their home communities.
The college is growing and we are looking for a lecturer to join our experienced, friendly team for 2017/18. You’ll work alongside specialist support staff and allied health professionals to deliver teaching and course leadership to learners whose levels of ability range across the milestones, including some at entry level.
As a lecturer your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and delivering schemes of work, lesson plans, learner assessments and learner reviews
- Undertaking initial assessments for new learners and setting targets for individual learning plans
- Acting as personal tutor to a group of learners
- Teaching across the full range of the college curriculum
You will have:
- Experience in delivering teaching in a post-compulsory education setting
- Knowledge of supporting people with autism and/or learning disabilities to access person-centred learning and/or community-based services
- Experience of working with people who engage in a range of behaviours that challenge
- An excellent understanding of and commitment to safeguarding young people
- Outstanding knowledge and practice around equality and diversity
In return, they will offer you 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), health cash plan, season ticket loan, cycle 2 work scheme, childcare vouchers, life assurance and a generous contributory pension offer.
